The Forum for a new World Governance database contains articles that deal with the most recent theoretical evolutions on global governance, and more specifically, those related to the issues being discussed and developed in the various forum activities.

The documents are selected on the basis of their analytical content as well as of the emphasis placed on specific proposals. They come from several kinds of sources: organizations recognized as producing content; regular publications; e-forums; research in other documentary databases, etc. Some of these sources can be accessed from the Links section.

The database is provided with a number of traditional search tools such as open search, searching by section or by keyword, as well as with a "mapping" tool.

Soldiers and the Latest Trends: Lessons from Yugoslavia?
¤ Jean-René Bachelet ¤ document written on July 2010
We are immersed in the latest trends. The current trends in a given society, for a given period and on a given issue mean we might think this, or we might think that; or rather, we might not think it: this or that imposes itself as the truth, with no need for argument, or even any question of refuting it. Most people accept this without thinking, and some with conviction; certain free (...) read more

What Europe does the world need?
¤ Pierre Calame ¤ document written on June 2010
We often find ourselves asking the question: what Europe do we want? The time may have come to look at the question the other way round, and ask ourselves: what Europe does the world need? Does the world even need Europe? It would be fair to say that today’s mood is one of disillusionment, and that the prospects for the European Union do not look very heartening. For its founding fathers, (...) read more

In this Seminar we decided to tackle the issue of ressentiment by broaching frequently avoided questions concerning relations between (...) read more

What South Africa does the world need?
¤ Paul Graham ¤ document written on October 2009
The intention of this paper is to stimulate a conversation about the opportunities that exist to change the world and the extent to which South Africa can and should contribute towards that. It celebrates the human effort to achieve liberty, equality and fraternity and the ways in which these elude us even as they invigorate, as Wordsworth recognised after the French revolution. It is (...) read more

Rural Areas and World Governance
¤ Matthieu Calame ¤ document written on October 2009
(Draft version, 2009 June) Rural areas include managed forested areas, farming areas, and settled areas. These areas share (...) read more

Governance of the World Banana Trade
¤ Iain Farquhar ¤ document written on October 2009
With liberalisation of the global banana market and more intense price competition, it has become increasingly difficult for small producers to survive, while large intensive operations which can keep costs down by paying particularly poor wages and disregarding environmental controls tend to be favoured. Consequently, if the aim of governance should be to manage the planet sustainably, then (...) read more
